Control, I'm not coming back

as per its steam page, Control is a short narrative hopecore game. and i really fucking like it. it's a walking sim, essentially, with a few pieces of dialogue and approximately two branching dialogue paths that don't offer much change except for a few different walking sequences.

you skip between scenes before ever reaching the end of the previous one, unsure of where to go next after your spaceship explodes and leaves you stranded with no way to contact earth, all set to a loud, pulsing beat for the walking scenes and oppressive silence for our cuts back to drifting in space. there are a few characters you meet and talk to along the way, but the most important one is voyager one, the satellite carrying the golden record. it's been alone for a very long time, and now you show up.

ultimately, you're abandoned by earth. too far out to save, they bid you good luck and farewell, and you're left to drift yourself to death. that is, until each character you've met gives you a little pep talk and you follow voyager one to the end of the known universe. this final scene is both a goodbye to the short lived friendship between yourself and voyager one, and a greeting to whatever comes next, accompanied by a short, somber violin piece.

i'm a huge sucker for hopecore, always and forever, and this hit it. it's free, takes about 45 minutes to run through and the soundtrack is great. highly recommend if you have an hour free.
